The rural landscape has provided continuity for the farming traditions as well as a welcoming environment for new settlers, many of whom are engaged in the high technology knowledge industries. Today many enjoy a country lifestyle, while remaining connected to city work sources via contemporary technology.

 

Driving up the meandering road into the Koonyum Ranges, over creeks, past trees hundreds of years old in native forests, the air cools, and the road finally passes through the gate to the property of 'Chameleon'.

 

The original owners, then sea-changers from Melbourne, discovered the north-east facing, fan-shaped property decades past.

 

They named it 'Chameleon', connecting the name with their capacity to change and adapt to a new environment. For them, the physical change was radical: from life in an inner city apartment, to the middle of a forest. Socially – new sorts of friends came with the new location, while economically, there were also changes, moving from city salaries to become independent consultants.
